|
| General |
A
vintage characterized by high vigour and high disease
pressure as a result of a wetter than usual growing period.
Fortunately our canopy management prevented outbreaks
of rot, and we harvested fully ripe, healthy grapes for
Marlbrook. Significantly, this is the first vintage to
include Malbec and Petit Verdot in the blend. |
|
| Description |
A brooding,
deeply concentrated wine showing density and power on
a classic Constantia framework. Sumptuously ripe berry
flavours at its core are enhanced by rich earthy notes
which lend texture and balance the palate. The ripe, grainy
tannins provide a finish which ends on a fresh, dry note.

Cabernet
Sauvignon 58%, Malbec 16%, Merlot 13%, Petit Verdot 7%,

| Wine Record |
Well
timed canopy management in the vineyard allowed for full
ripening of the 5 varieties which make up the blend. Each
component was individually vinified in either oak cuvons
or stainless steel fermentors. Once dry, the batches were
pressed to barrel where they underwent malolactic fermentation
and maturation for a period of 22 months. |
