Klein Constantia has a new cycling team

Posted on 15 Jan 2016

For the 2016 cycling season, Klein Constantia has partnered with an exciting new cycling team, formerly called AWT Greenway.

The Continental team was established in 2013 as the feeder team of one of the most successful teams in history, Etixx-QuickStep. The Klein Constantia team is focused on the young up and coming cycling talents and works with riders from the age of 18-23. One of our aims will be to groom the younger riders by introducing them to an environment simulating that of the professional teams to prepare them for their future, offering a true unique opportunity.

During the team’s 3 years, they have managed to graduate riders such as Alaphilippe, Czech National Champion Petr Vakoc and Poland’s Lukasz Wisniowski into the ranks of the senior team. In 2016, the team will have 13 young excellent riders, including Maximilian Schachmann who finished the season in a fantastic 2nd place at the World Championships time trials, Michal Schlegel who finished 7th  at the World Championships road race as well as Portuguese U23 Champion Nuno Bico and New Zealand U23 Champion Hamish Schreurs.

“We are incredibly excited and proud to be involved and to be able to support the future of cycling. Some of the young talents in this team will be the future stars of many years and races to come.” Hans Astrom, MD of Klein Constantia.
