OUR CELLAR

Beneath the slopes of Constantiaberg, in a cellar both timeless and modern, each Klein Constantia wine is guided from vine to bottle with patience, precision and care. This is not a place of spectacle, but of purpose, where every decision serves the expression of our unique terroir.

Winemaker

WINEMAKER

At the heart of it all is Matthew Day, only the third winemaker at Klein Constantia since the estate’s revival in the 1980s. A graduate of Stellenbosch University and a student of the world’s great wine regions, from Saint-Émilion to Barossa to Napa, Matthew brings global perspective to this singular Cape site.

Since taking the reins in 2012, his vision has been clear: to craft wines of restraint, elegance and longevity. Under his hand, Klein Constantia has earned a quiet reputation for excellence, not through noise, but through nuance.

Innovation

TRADITION

Here, tradition meets innovation. Fermentations are spontaneous where possible, interventions are minimal, and oak is used with a light hand. Whether it’s a single-block Sauvignon Blanc or a barrel of Vin de Constance, every wine is treated with the same respect and attention.

Our cellar is not just where wine is made, it’s where Klein Constantia’s philosophy takes shape. Year after year, vintage after vintage.
