Strauss & Co inaugural Fine Wine Auction

Posted on 10 Jun 2019

The unofficial results are in from the inaugural Fine Wine Auction programme – a joint venture between auction house Strauss & Co, Wine Cellar and top sommelier Higgo Jacobs.

Saturday’s auction saw a total of 78% of the lots sold from a meticulously sourced catalogue of highly esteemed SA wines, introducing prospective buyers to some of South Africa’s iconic and finest wines. Each sale was supported by the application of strict criteria with regard to quality, provenance & rarity.

Our Vin de Constance featured in 4 lots – one of which being a rare & sought-after bottle of the 1986 Vin de Constance, the first modern era vintage of Constantia wine, selling for over R30,000. One bottle of our 1987 Vin de Constance, sold for R20,000.

Wines from our sister farm Anwilka fared well too – Anwilka’s debut release (2005), lauded by Robert Parker as the finest red wine he ever had from South Africa in 2006, fetched over R6,000 for a case.

We are very proud to be in excellent company as part of SA’s leading wine producers with some of the finest & iconic wines. Well done to Strauss & Co, Wine Cellar & Higgo Jacobs on a very successful event!
