Klein Constania

Marlbrook 2006

Marlbrook 2006

This was a year for bold red wines. The warm, dry summer lead to fully ripe, luscious red grapes of great colour and tannin concentration.

Careful parcel selection of Klein Constantia’s healthiest red grapes were small-batch vinified. Rigorous criteria during the blending process resulted in only the finest barrels ‘making the cut’. A light egg white fining preceded bottling in December 2007.

Tasting Notes

The wine is opaque at core, with a youthfully dense ruby rim. Mint and mocha complement the ripe blackcurrant fruit aromas, which follow through on the palate in compact form. Resolute, fine tannins structure and rein in the concentrated layers of pure, dark berry fruit flavours throughout, ensuring a long, savoury, firm finish.

Maturation

Although approachable now with food, this blend has the potential to develop further complexity in bottle over the next 8 years

Barrel Aging

Two years in French oak barrels
