Klein Constania

Perdeblokke Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Perdeblokke Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Klein Constantia Perdeblokke is a wine from a select group of vineyards high up on the steep slopes of the Constantiaberg. The name refers to the horses that tilled the soils of this vineyard whose steep slopes lie 200-220 metres above sea level.

Since its planting in 2000, the Perdeblokke has yielded the best quality sauvignon on the farm, which prompted the decision to produce a single vineyard wine. It is made only in years of exceptional quality in order to uphold the reputation of the Perdeblokke vineyard.

Tasting Notes

A diverse but defined nose with primary aromas of straw and flintiness is followed by fruity notes of Kiwi fruit and citrus. Strong minerality in the wine truly expresses the unique terrior of the ‘Perdeblokke’ vineyard. The palate is a crisp concentration of sweet melon, Kiwi fruit and wood spice flavours with a savoury finish unique to the Constantia valley. The pH and acidity of this wine ensure that it will age gracefully.

Perdeblokke will definitely benefit from age but it is showing very well at the moment. Drink now or keep for up to 5 years.
